CRC oarsmen for ARAE Regatta

ROWING - Karachi Boat Club will host and conduct the popular
Amateur Rowing Association East (ARAE) Regatta on December 23 in Karachi
with the blessings of the Amateur Rowing Association of Pakistan.
The Colombo Rowing Club has confirmed their participation at the ARAE
Regatta according to Chanaka Wickremasooriya, the Captain of the Boats
of CRC. Wickremasooriya said that only CRC oarsmen will compete at the
regatta. The final CRC team will be named by the end of this month. The
CRC oarsmen are presently training under Chevantha Sirimanne, a former
Thomian and national oarsman.
The CRC oarsmen will take part in men's 'A' sculls, men's 'B' sculls,
men's 'A' Pairs, men's 'B' pairs, men's 'A' Fours, men's 'B' Fours, and
veterans Fours. Last year, Madras Boat Club conducted the ARAE Regatta
held in Chennai and they carried away major honours, wining the overall
trophy.
According to organisers, four leading clubs from Pakistan and India
together with teams from Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Sri Lanka (CRC)
are expected to row at the ARAE Regatta. |
