Odel goes for Rs. 1 b expansion program
Odel, Sri Lanka's only department store will invest one billion
rupees on a massive expansion program. Once the expansion is completed
the floor area will be 100,000 square feet together with the car park.
Chief Operating Officer Arjuna Samaratunge said that the concept has
been finalised and the designs are being done at present by HMKM of UK,
the designing architects. He said the architects have worked with
Selfridges and Harrods of UK. Since it is not just another building the
designing phase will take quite some time to finish, and we are hoping
to start work by mid 2007. Land Management Services will implement the
project, he said.
With Christmas round the corner Odel launched its Christmas 2006
campaign, entitled "Red". The campaign showcases bursts of fiery
Passion, Lust and Desire within the classic, mysterious facade of black
and white.
Odel continues to set the standard among fashion retailers with their
groundbreaking creation and execution of this exuberant theme translated
across a range of communication media, including the billboards, press
ads and calendar postcards that serve to heighten anticipation levels
among eager customers.
The flagship store is well adorned with traditional Christmas
decorations and each ornament is adapted to incorporate the colours and
ideas of the main theme, making it a truly "Red" Christmas. |
