Govt takes serious view on Defence Secy's attack

The Government vehemently condemns the dastardly and cowardly attempt on the life of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on Friday morning in Colombo.

The Government considers this suicide bomb attack by the LTTE as a serious challenge posed to the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Sri Lankan State, a press release issued by the Director Government Information stated.

The Cabinet, in its meeting the same day discussed this heinous attack at length and concluded that this barbaric act requires very serious attention.
