From trainee steward to Resident Manager

When Niranjan Naganathan began his hotel career as a humble trainee
steward at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Colombo on September 10, 1979, even in
his wildest dreams he never thought that someday he will be appointed
Resident Manager of a Star Class Hotel.
Dedication and work and honesty helped Niranjan climb the ladder of
success and reach the zenith of his hotel career when he took up duties
as the Resident Manager, Giritale Hotel, Giritale in April this year.
After serving Holiday Inn for five years as an honest and hard
working trainee steward, Niranjan began to climb the ladder of success
when he left for Oman and joined Novatel Hotel as a Captain. After
working there for five years, Niranjan left for the Maldives in search
of greener pastures. At the Maldives he worked at Laguna Beach Resort as
its Food and Beverage Manager, also being totally in charge of F & B
operations at Laguna.
After serving Laguna for seven years Niranjan returned to Sri Lanka
and joined Confifi Beach Hotel, Beruwala as its Restaurant Manager, and
also acted as the hotel's manager.
In 2005, Niranjan joined Pegasus Reef Hotel, Hendala owned and
managed by Carson Cumberbatch Ltd a very senior company in Sri Lanka's
Hospitality Industry, as the hotel's Food and Beverage Manager.
From Pegasus Reef Hotel, Niranjan was promoted to Resident Manager,
Giritale Hotel, also owned and managed by Carson Comberbatch Ltd.
Since April this year, Niranjan is the Resident Manager of Giritale
Hotel. He counts 26 years' experience in the hospitality industry, and
is now one of Sri Lanka's most experienced and veteran hoteliers.
