Ms. Lanka 2006 'Beauty for a cause'



The winners were: 4th Runner-up-Samadara Jayawardene, 3rd Runner-up Nelung Salgado, 2nd Runner-up-Isanka Abeyrathne, 1st Runner-up-Maheshi Hemapala and the winner-Rizana Sahar Ousman.

Ms. Lanka 2006 'Beauty for a cause' in aid of the National Health Development Fund. The most beautiful girl... again. Making dreams come true by helping to uplift the lives of the less fortunate is the main reason for the annual event of Ms. Lanka 'Beauty for a cause'.

Technique International and its team headed by Directress Gwendoline Kuhatheva has brought to light once again, the most beautiful girl, with the Ms. Lanka 2006. This amazing show, is not only dazzling, but is for a more glittering cause, that is to help the downtrodden and the unfortunate.

This year's show, held at the British School Auditorium on Saturday November 25, is the 12th of its kind. Every year, this beauty school and its founder and Director Gwendoline Kuhatheva work towards this charity beauty show. Held in all its finery and glory, the show saw some of the beautiful women in the country parade the catwalk for the eminent panel of judges to decide.

The clothes, hair, make up and flowers were all in perfect unison, in keeping with beauty, glamour and the true colours of life.

Geetha Kankaratne, Melanie Jayaweera and Fathimathullah Mufeed together with the current students of Technique International enhanced the beauty of the participants with makeup, clothes and hair.

While the contestants gave the judges a hard time with their soft, beautiful looks, the decision eventually came. Ms. Lanka 2006 was given to contestant Rizana Ousman who also won the mini titles of Ms. Talent, and Ms. Elegance, Ms. Photogenic & Ms. Personality.

The other winners were Maheshi Hemapala - Ms. Catwalk, Isanka Abeyratne - Ms. Body Beautiful, Sahira Mendis - Ms. Crowning Glory, Nishi Jayawardena - Ms. Congeniality.

The generous sponsors who made this glittering show a reality were the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (Principal Sponsors), B/Braun and Kendra (Joint Sponsors), Sterling Flowers (Official Florist), Softlogic and Shaaz Travels.

Entertainment was by Channa's Dance Troupe and Lets Dance Academy, Judges were Pradeep Bremly. The eight judges for the Ms. Lanka 2006 were: Dr. K. U. Kamalgoda, Managing Director - State Pharmaceutical Corporation, President Asia Pacific Marketing Federation., Mr. Lakith Peiris, Country Manager - B/Braun Sri Lanka, Ms. Ramya Weerakoon, President - Sri Lanka Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairperson - Ramya Apparels, HIQ Fashions, Ms. Lilanthi Jayaratne, Director - Sterling Flowers, Dr. Upendra De Sliva, a very well known Dermatologist, Mr. Hemantha Gunawardena, Director - Softlogic, Mr. Channa De Silva, Marketing - Bank of Ceylon award winning portrait photographer (here and abroad) and Life member & Ex public relations secr. of the Prestyron Photographer society of SL. Member - Royal Photographer society. UK and Mr. G. Sathasivam Chair/MD Lanka Madicals Swiss Boogeure, Watawala Plantations.
