A Vajira - Chithrasena Foundation production

The Chitrasena Kalayathanaya, after 25 years of moving from place to place, is finally heading to a permanent home at 590, Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 5, in January 2007. Phase I of the construction plan is complete, which includes basic facilities such as a large dance hall with a wooden floor, two small changing rooms, office, pantry, toilets and utility room for the storage of instruments, custumes, sets etc.

The Chitrasena Kalayathanaya is accepting new students for enrolment throughout the month of January 2007 on Saturdays from 8 am - 12 noon, at its new premises next to the Apollo Hospital. They have to be seven years or older.

The Chitrasena Dance Company is also seeking senior dancers (over 19 years of age, both male and female) to join its main dance troupe. Auditions will be held on Monday, January 8th (5-6.30 p.m.), Wednesday, January 10th (10-11-30am), and Friday, January 12th (5-6.30 pm). Those selected will have to undergo a year of training and style correction before performing with the Company.

The Chitrasena Kalayathanaya is proud to announce that a brand new children's ballet is in the works for 2007 - 'Kumbi Kathawa' and choreographed by Anjalika & Mahesh.
