South Asian quadrangular netball tourney in March

NETBALL: The Netball Federation of Sri Lanka will conduct a South
Asian level invitation netball tournament in March at the Sugathadasa
Indoor Stadium.
Sri Lanka together with India, Pakistan and Maldives will play in
this tournament.
According to a senior official of the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka
all three countries - India, Pakistan and Maldives have accepted the
invitation. The dates of the tournament will be known shortly.
The tournament will be played on a league basis and the best two
teams will clash in the final.
The NFSL official added that the netballers to represent Sri Lanka
will be picked from the National Development pool. The NFSL has already
named the pool and is awaiting the approval of the Sports Ministry.
The official further said that Barbados netball team will be in Sri
Lanka in August to play a series of matches with the Sri Lanka team.
They are making this trip to Sri Lanka to play warm-up games prior to
the World Championships to be held in Thailand October. The NFSL is also
making arrangements to play more international matches before the World
Championships.
The NFSL will have to find the necessary finances for our netballers
to play abroad. The NFSL will be looking for sponsors and also expect
the fullest support from the Sports Ministry. |
