Facelift for N'Eliya city soon

A facelift is in the offing for Nuwara Eliya city and its
surroundings to be undertaken by the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council,
which will include the famous Nuwara Eliya Lake Gregory, the Victoria
Park and the beautification within the city limits.
According to the Mayor Chandanalal Karunaratne, Japanese Organisation,
'Japic' and the Govt. of Sri Lanka have come forward with a massive
financial aid amounting to over five million rupees, with Japic's
outright grant being nearly 302 million rupees.
The funds will be utilised for the development of Lake Gregory, the
Victoria Park in addition to the development and the beautification of
the town limits.
A new unit has been opened at the old Kachcheri at Nuwara Eliya
recently with officials manning the project included the Japic, where
the Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Chandanalal Karunaratne, the Government Agent
of Nuwara Eliya W. B. M. Ratnayake and other government senior officials
were present.
A sum of over rupees nine hundred million was also spent earlier on
this project.
