Rajans Super Mini Marathon June 29

The All Island Road Race - 'Rajans Super Mini Marathon - 2007', organised by the Dharmaraja College Sports Council and the Sports Coordinating Office of the Sports Minister, Bandula Basnayake, will start at opposite the Auditorium of Dharmaraja College, Kandy on June 29 at 8.00 a.m.

This Mini Marathon will be the highlight of the 120th anniversary of Dharmaraja College and Founders Day. The Road Race will be 21.098 kms in distance and will be categorised into men, women and for schoolboys under 20 and schoolgirls under 20, for men over 50 and for women over 50 years.

All applications should be sent to: Organiser, Rajans Mini Marathon 2007, Dharmaraja College, Kandy on or before June 20.


Easy for CH & FC

RUGBY: CH & FC scored an easy 32 points (2 goals, 3 tries, 1 penalty) to 5 (1 try) win over Army in their Caltex 'A' Division League Rugby Championship game at Havelock Park yesterday after leading 10-5 at half time. Army's Kapila Knowlton let the Soldiers down very badly missing quite a few penalties - one even from 20-metres.


Over Rs. 50,000 cash awards at Hilton tennis

TENNIS: Cash awards totalling more than Rs 50,000 will be on offer at the 6th Tennis Gala of the Hilton Colombo Residence to be worked off from June 25 to July 1 on their solitary court and also on the hard courts of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) at Greenpath depending on the number of entries received. This is being sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank.

Chairman, General Manager of Hilton Colombo Residence, Peter Simson, thanked Standard Chartered Bank for coming forward with a generous sponsorship package. He said that this was one of the main events in their calendar (the other being swimming) and expects more than the 210 entries they received last year.
