New appointments at Aitken Spence
Dinesh Mendis and Rohan Pandithakorralage were appointed to the board
of Aitken Spence Group Ltd from July 1.
Mendis is the Managing Director of MMBL Money Transfer (Pvt) Ltd and
Pandithakorralage heads the Human Resources division.
Mendis joined Aitken Spence as a Trainee Executive in 1984 after
completing his primary education at S. Thomas' College Mt. Lavinia.
Subsequently, he pursued his higher education in the USA, where he
obtained a BSc majoring in Marketing and Economics from Slippery Rock
University of Pennsylvania in 1992.
During his final year he was awarded the Outstanding Student Award
for both Marketing and Economics. The following year, Mendis obtained a
Master of Business Degree (MBA) majoring in Marketing from the
University of Texas.
Upon completion of his higher studies Mendis rejoined Aitken Spence
in 1994 and was attached to Ace Distriparks (Pvt) Ltd, a pioneering
logistics company in Sri Lanka.
Mendis was promoted General Manager in 1995 and Director of the
company in 1999. He was also involved in the management of the other
logistics sector companies in the Group, namely Ace Containers, Ace
Freight Management, Ace Container Repairs, Ace Container Terminals and
Ace Haulage.
In addition to his HR responsibilities, Pandithakorralage is in
charge of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of Aitken
Spence, and manages the operations of the Group Business Development
Division, which handles new venture opportunities, corporate
communications, corporate branding and group-wide initiatives of the
Group.
Pandithakorralage is the Past President of the International Public
Management Association for Human Resources - Sri Lanka Chapter (IPMA)
and Immediate Past President of the Association of Human Resource
Professionals in Sri Lanka (AHRP).
He is a graduate of Victoria University, Australia, where he received
a Bachelors in Business Management. He is currently reading a Masters in
Business Administration at the Postgraduate Institute of Management
(PIM).
He has received training at NUS Business School in Singapore and
Asian Development Bank in Manila.
