NBEA 2007 to recognise outstanding business organisations
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) launched the
National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA) 2007 for the fourth
consecutive year on Tuesday to recognise outstanding business
organisations which have contributed to the growth and development of
the country's economy.
The NBEA 2007 which will be held on November 2 at the Colombo Hilton
will include three new industries such as food and beverage, macro
sector enterprises and large scale investments.
Prof. Gunapala Nanayakkara, Chairman-NBEA panel of judges said of the
10 criteria the outreach of business enterprises will be a priority. The
evaluation will take into account how organisations reach out
competitively and in a customer friendly manner.
A university level program to evaluate and promote organisations
out-reach capacity will be launched in September in the Middle East. The
success of international trade depends on a company's ability to
position their products with the confidence of consumers, Prof.
Nanayakkara said.
He said the management's futuristic outlook will be another important
criteria to recognise and reward business excellence.
Companies need to go beyond competitive business and excel in
performance. CEO, Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd, Suren Amarasekera said capital and
human resource management are vital for business success.
Awards will be presented to 85 companies this year and is categorised
as extra large, large, medium and small and will be judged on market
access, investment, innovation, strategies, technology and corporate
social responsibility.
