The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) launched the National Business Excellence Awards (NBEA) 2007 for the fourth consecutive year on Tuesday to recognise outstanding business organisations which have contributed to the growth and development of the country's economy.

The NBEA 2007 which will be held on November 2 at the Colombo Hilton will include three new industries such as food and beverage, macro sector enterprises and large scale investments.

Prof. Gunapala Nanayakkara, Chairman-NBEA panel of judges said of the 10 criteria the outreach of business enterprises will be a priority. The evaluation will take into account how organisations reach out competitively and in a customer friendly manner.

A university level program to evaluate and promote organisations out-reach capacity will be launched in September in the Middle East. The success of international trade depends on a company's ability to position their products with the confidence of consumers, Prof. Nanayakkara said.

He said the management's futuristic outlook will be another important criteria to recognise and reward business excellence.

Companies need to go beyond competitive business and excel in performance. CEO, Mobitel (Pvt) Ltd, Suren Amarasekera said capital and human resource management are vital for business success.
