'Point-scoring in US polls at Pakistan's expense dangerous'
Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri terming US president candidate
Barack Obama's statement "Irresponsible", said point-scoring in the
United State's election at Pakistan's cost would be highly dangerous and
detrimented to the interests of Pakistan and USA.
Reacting to a statement by Democratic presidential candidate Barack
Obama, who Wednesday said to use military force against Al Queda
operatives hiding in tribal areas of Pakistan, foreign minister Kasuri
told APP that "some candidates were scoring points at Pakistan's
expense," a press release from the High Commission of Pakistan said.
About the legislation on the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission
Kasuri said that in some ways, "the current legislation HR. 1
(Implementation of the 9/11 Commission's Recommendations) is even more
counter-productive than Pressler."
"Pakistanis have a bad memory of Pressler," Kasuri added. The Foreign
Minister said that Pressler Amendment was aimed at preventing Pakistan
becoming a nuclear power, while Pakistan felt that acquiring strategic
capability was in its interest following India's nuclear test.
