Orica powder coatings penetrate local market

Orica Powder Coatings, Australia and its sole agent in Sri Lanka Central Echo Engineering (Pvt) Ltd launched Orica aluminium powder coatings to the Sri Lankan market.

Orica, Australia has been involved in the manufacture development and marketing of high quality powder coatings since 1968. Orica, a leading supplier of coatings to the Australian and New Zealand markets, exports premium powder coat products to the Asian region.

Managing Director, Central Echo Engineering (Pvt) Ltd Chaminda Nalaka Rajapakse said that the specially coloured aluminium windows, door frames and other products have acquired a supreme position in modern architecture and construction field in Sri Lanka. Modern Multi-storeyed buildings, commercial and residential constructions essentially need aluminium structures, he said.

Central Echo engineering (Pvt) Ltd has set up a systematic marketing network islandwide to distribute the Orica powder coatings. Most of the leading aluminium manufacturers in Sri Lanka prefer to use Orica products since they are harmless to users as well as the environment, he said.

Orica powder coatings do not contain toxic heavy metal pigments such as lead chromates which are used in bright-coloured powder coatings in a large part of Asia. Lead chromate is classified as toxic to those handling the powder and harmful to the environment.

Orica has powder manufacturing plants in Australia and New Zealand. Its total Production capacity exceeds ten-thousand tonnes. A quality management system certification to the international quality system standard ISO 9001 is maintained at all Orica powder coating sites.
