Rolling Wheels (Pvt) Ltd., launched a business concept to use three wheelers throughout the country as an effective means to carry out advertising for business organisations.

CEO, Rolling Wheels Dr. Samila de Silva said the new business concept was introduced after two years of research on three wheelers in various parts of the country.

"Our aim is to introduce a new culture and change the wrong image of three wheel drivers with a code of ethics while providing them an opportunity to earn a reasonable income," Dr. de Silva said.

Director, Rolling Wheels Rajiv Krishnan said many leading business organisations have agreed to support the new business concept and take the message across the country.

The All-Island Three Wheel Drivers and Owners Association and the Three Wheel Drivers' Welfare Association have tied up with Rolling Wheels in the program.

"The business concept will not only provide financial benefits to drivers but also include insurance cover and family welfare benefits" Krishnan said.

Ravi Bamunusinghe from the Research Consultancy Bureau said around 3,000 three wheel drivers in Colombo have agreed to join the organisation and the number of three wheelers will be increased to around 10,000.

The program which will be initially launched in Colombo will be extended to other parts of the country by early next year", he said.

The members will have to work a minimum eight hours covering 80 kilometres per day.

Three wheel drivers work 8-12 hours covering 80-120 kilometres per day.
