The new look Amrith Masala Talk, the North Indian restaurant at Vajira Road, Colombo 6 is now open to the public after the soft opening during the weekend.

We serve not only North Indian food but also South Indian delicacies from Chettinad, Karaikudi and the speciality fish head curry, said the General Manager of the Restaurant Sunil Pherwani.

The new and fresh look restaurant with ample parking facilities can accommodate 180 persons at any given time. We are ready to give a high quality, courteous service to our customers, he said.

According to Pherwani the main difference at the restaurant is the shisha lounge where people get an opportunity to smoke long cigars.

In addition there is a family Karoke room where families can enjoy karaoke music. The room is sound proof and is equipped with very high volume sound systems but prior reservations have to be made as we give this room only to families.

A la carte menu with a wide range of dishes to select from have been laid out for our valued guests by the five Indian chefs. The restaurant serves lunch from 12-3 pm while dinner is served from 6.30pm-11pm. In addition to the five chefs there are about 40 local staff working at the restaurant. In the evenings guests will be entertained by a group playing Indian music.

The framed boxes of spices on the walls add to the decor and also explains what spices are used on a closer look, said Pherwani.

Speaking of the ingredients used in preparing the dishes, he said, that most of them are purchased locally while some of them have to be imported from India.

Managing Director of Jaycey Group Janaka Ramanayake said that the restaurant was his father's dream and together with his father he fulfilled it. We are planning to expand it to other cities as well in the near future. My father believes that a company should face challenges and invest to earn profits and we also believe in this philosophy.

Ramanayake said that most of the requirements for the restaurant were imported from China under their personal supervision and care as quality was their main priority.
