More showers expected

There will be thunder and showers all over the country during September and October Deputy Director, Department of Meteorology, S. Kariyawasam told the Sunday Observer.

The Director said that September is considered as the tail end of the South West monsoon. The monsoon is quite weak this year and this resulted in less rain and heavy thunder.

There will be unexpected thunder and showers during the day in the rest of the country other than the South West. The low pressure and depression developing over the Bay of Bengal in November will be the main cause and heavy clouds and rain can be expected.
