Lake House celebrates Navarathri

The Hindu Association of Lake House celebrated the annual Navarathri Saraswathi pooja for the fourth successive year on Friday at the All Ceylon Hindu Congress Hall, Colombo.

Invitees to the Navarathri Saraswathi pooja were given a traditional welcome with pottus on their foreheads. After the pooja Prof. S. Chandrasekeram, Dean of the Faculty of Education, University of Colombo was garlanded by the President of ANCL Hindu Association, Ananth Palakidnar.

Prof. Chandrasekeram was presented the "Jaladeepam" award in recognition of his contribution in the field of Education. Thereafter the traditional oil lamp was lit by the Chairman ANCL, Bandula Padmakumara, Hony President, Lake House Hindu Association, Ananth Palakidnar and the Editor of the Thinakaran, Siva Subramaniam.

Pupils of the Vasugi Jegadeeshwaran's Natyakala Mandir performed a Bharatha natyam.
