World Spice Food Festival
The World Spice Food Festival which began on Friday at the Nomads grounds concluded yesterday. From today till October 27 the chefs move on to their hotels where they will host their specialities with many other attractions. The grand finale to the festival on October 28 will be held at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla. The hotels, cafes and restaurants represented are: Hilton Colombo: Mexican; Hotel Galadari: Chinese; Cinnamon Grand: Lebanese; Trans Asia Hotel: Singaporean; Ceylon Continental: Indonesian; Taj Samudra Hotel: Italian; Holiday Inn Hotel: Indian (South); Galle Face Hotel: Australian; Mt. MAS Fabric Park, the world's first environmental sustainable apparel and Fabric Park which accommodates the first warp knit project in South Asia was opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Thulhiriya on Friday.

Govt finalises $ 500 m sovereign bond issue

Projects to be implemented without any conditions:

The Government last week successfully finalised the sovereign bond issue amidst continuous protests from the main opposition, the United National Party. Accordingly the government would borrow US$ 500 million from the bond issue which is oversubscribed by 210 percent.
