LTTE infiltration attempt foiled

Troops at the Nagar Kovil Forward Defence Line in the peninsula have foiled an infiltration attempt made by LTTE cadres in the early hours yesterday.

An LTTE cadre was killed and a large number of them were wounded in the incident according to the Defence Media Centre.

In another incident at Koddadi, Jaffna Army personnel manning a road block had shot dead an LTTE cadre who was attempting to lob a grenade at the army sentry at 8.25 pm on Friday.

The cadre who was killed had four National Identity cards in his possession. Meanwhile, the troops recovered 270 anti-personnel mines at Pokkaravani, Vavuniya on Friday. The troops also found 200 anti personnel mines and a claymore mine weighing 5kgs at Pankulam, Trincomalee on Friday.
