SSP Roshan Fernando awarded
Senior Supdt. of Police Chillaw Division, Roshan Fernando is one of
the recipients, of the 'Excellency Awards 2007' bestowed by the
Singapore Government.
The other recipients of the Awards were nine Sri Lankans for their
contribution to the society.
Ten recipients from Singapore, China, India, and Malaysia will
receive their awards in Singapore on October 27.
The Society of Sri Lanka Justices of the Peace and Human Rights
Organisation in collaboration with the Sindha Organisation in Singapore
have organised the event at the Santek City Hall in Singapore.
The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Al Haj M. H. Mohammed, the
Minister of Justice Dilan Perera, and the Skills Development Minister
Dayashritha Tissera will represent Sri Lanka.
The President of Singapore will preside at the ceremony.
As the Senior Supdt.of Police of the Chillaw Division, Roshan
Fernando has rendered a yeoman service to the community by curtailing
The illicit liquor menace in keeping with President Mahinda Rajapaksa's
Mathata Tita concept.
He was also responsible for curtailing illicit human trafficking to
Western countries.
SSP Roshan Fernando was bestowed with the national awards Deshabandu
and Deshamanya in 2004 and 2002. Having joined the Police Department as
a Sub-Inspector of Police in 1982 he was promoted as a Senior Supdt. of
Police in 2005.
He had served in various divisions of the police including the
Special Task Force (STF) and followed advance training in Japan, Israel,
and Singapore. |
