Hindu College sponsored soccer tourney attracts 24 teams

SOCCER: Twenty four teams will dribble at the All-Island Inter-School Football Tournament organised by the Old Boys Association of Hindu College, Bambalapitiya to be played from October 26 to 28 at the Hindu College grounds, Lorensz Road, Colombo 4.

According to R. Elanko, Secretary, Old Boys Association, Hindu College, Colombo, has received the blessings and support from Sri Lanka Schools Football Association and Sri Lanka Football Federation. For this tournament the best teams from the schools have been invited to play. The tournament is sponsored by the Old Boys Association, Hindu College, Colombo and co-sponsored by Hindu College, Canada Branch.

The tournament will be played on a knockout basis and the draw will be held today (Sunday).

The champions will receive the Hindurite Challenge Trophy, cash awards and medals, runners-up will receive a trophy, cash award and medals.

In addition, the Best Goal Keeper and Best Player of the tournament will be selected and cash prizes will be presented.

The teams in the fray are Hindu College, Colombo, St. Benedict's College, Zahira College, Maradana, St. Peter's College, St. Joseph's College, Royal, Lumbini MV, Isipatana MV, D. S. Senanayake College, Wesley College, Hameedia Al-Hussenia MV, Dharmaraja College, Zahira College, Gampola, Wayamba Royal, Kurunegala, St. Thomas College, Matara, Holy Cross College, Kalutara, Maris Stella College, Dharmadutha College, Badulla, St. Zavier's College, Mannar, Sam Central College, Ampara, Aligar National School Batticaloa, Kalaimahal Vidyalaya, Vavuniya, St. Lucia's MV, Mannar, Keeniya Central College, Batticaloa.
