CEAT wins 11 awards at National Quality Competition

Top tyre manufacturer CEAT Sri Lanka won 11 awards at the recent National Quality and Productivity Competitions conducted by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Quality and Productivity.

Four teams from the company's Kalutara and Kelaniya plants participated in one of the main categories of the competition "Continuous Improvement (CI) Teams" and demonstrated their skills in problem solving and implementing various improvement initiatives, in keeping with the company's efforts to enhance quality management throughout 2007.

The team "Challenge" from CEAT's Kalutara plant won the most prestigious award "Overall Winner of CI Teams" and the company won nine out of the ten awards in the CI team category of the competition.

The team showed significant results in the reduction of High Fabric Scrap, which is a basic tyre component made of Nylon material and Rubber Compound. The team had not only achieved its specific target but also generated a set of new measures for further improvement of the process.
