Military operations carried out with more vigour
While being the main force that restored
normalcy in the Jaffna Peninsula after many years of on-going war
against terrorism, the military is ready to face any terrorist
offensive in future. In an interview with the Sunday Observer Major
General G.A. Chandrasiri, Security Forces Commander Jaffna said that
the abolition of the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) had enabled the
military to continue the offensives against LTTE terrorists with
more vigour.

The Tamil Nadu police has sought the assistance
of the Interpol to crackdown on LTTE activities in the State and
also to block financial assistance channelled to the outfit secretly
from foreign countries, reports from Chennai said.

Rumours help the LTTE
People who spread rumours give ideas to the LTTE
to accomplish their targets, Military Spokesman Brigadier Udaya
Nanayakkara told the Sunday Observer. There was a rumour last
Friday, that ten civilians had been killed in Horton Plains and the
person or party who did so is still at large, he said.
