Galle literary festival goes green

Having been recognised as the Number One Literary Festival in the
world (according to Harper's Bazaar magazine) last year, the Galle
Literary festival was held this year. Started on Jan. 16 and concluding
today, the theme revolved around this, renowned literary gathering was
focused on climate change.
Promoting initiatives like, Beach Clean Up project and the 'Say No To
Plastic's campaign, even publishers like the Perera-Hussein Publishing
House have been adpoting the responsible carbon-impact policy.
The festival directors Geoffrey Dobbs and Libby Southwell ensured
that UN World Heritage Galle Fort shone in all its splendour to play
host to this amazing festival.
Legendary international writers also set foot on Galle to participate
in the Galle Literary Festival 2008. Acclaimed playwright, novelist cum
essayist Gore Vidal, poet and novelist Vikram Seth, Alexander McGall
Smith, historian William Dallrymple, journalist Simon Winchester and
chef Sophie Grigson were there to grace the festival with their
workshops and interactive discussions. |
