Colts heading for an outright win

SLC Premier Trophy inter club Tier A matches

CRICKET: Paceman Nuwan Kulasekera returned to form with a superb five wicket haul to put Colts CC on course for an outright victory over Bloomfield on the third day of their SLC Premier Trophy inter club four day Tier A league tournament match continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Bloomfield chasing a modest target of 187 runs collapsed to 146 for 8 still needing a further 41 runs to win with only two wickets in hand. Kulasekera had figures of five wickets for 21 runs from nine overs and was supported well by Sajeewa Weerakoon.

Colts CC: 141 and 326 (D. Perera 94, J. Kulatunga 78, A. Mathews 67 n.o, D. Pathirana 21, N. Kulasekera 30, T. Gamage 3 for 94, M. Ranasinghe 2 for 84, S. Dissanayake 2 for 59).

Bloomfield: 281 and 146 for 8 (T. Masmulla 52, P. Jayawardena 50, N. Kulasekera 5 for 21, S. Weerakoon 2 for 25).

Baduraliya SC in superb fight back

Baduraliya SC fought back magnificently in their second innings to set Chilaw Marians SC a tough victory target of 322 runs on the third day of their SLC Premier Trophy inter club four day league Tier A tournament match continued at Havelock Park yesterday.

Baduraliya SC: 231 and 335 (D. Vitharana 36, H. Wickremaratne 25, D. Perera 76, D. Fernando 45, A. Ratnayake 47, N. Bandaratilleke 24, D. Hettiarachchi 3 for 75, H. Fernando 2 for 39).

Chilaw Marians SC: 245 and 104 for 3 (H. Cooray 25 n.o., H. Fernando 44 n.o., D. Fernando 2 for 25).

SSC on top

SSC were well on course to register an easy outright victory after setting Ragama CC a massive target of 482 runs on the third day of their SLC Premier Trophy four day inter club Tier A league tournament fixture continued at Maitland Place yesterday.

SSC: 302 and 328 for 6 decl (A. Gunawardena 72, T. Samaraweera 96, T. Kandamby 58, J. Sriyapala 62 n.o., K. Weeraratne 2 for 66, M. Bandara 2 for 66).

Ragama CC: 149 and 124 for 3 (D. Ranatunga 40, H. Vithana 66, S. Senanayake 2 for 31).

Chanaka - a career best 250

Middle order batsman Chanaka Wijesinghe hammered a career best 250 as NCC look set to pull off an easy outright victory over Tamil Union in their SLC Premier Trophy inter club four day Tier A league tournament match continued at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

NCC: 194 and 441 for 6 decl (U. Tharanga 31, K. Gunawardena 25, S. Mohamed 33, C. Wijesinghe 250, M. Gajanayake 56, S. Wijeratne 28 n.o., O. Wijesiriwardena 3 for 75, M. Pushpakumara 2 for 80).

Tamil Union: 227 and 116 for 3 (I Daniel 19, S. Fernando 48 n.o., G. Rupasinghe 28 n.o.).
