Lankans win five "Golds"

CHESS: Sri Lanka won five gold medals at the 3rd Asian Schools Chess championship held over the weekend at the Hotel Tormaline, Kandy.

The following competitors won the Gold Medals, for Sri Lanka Schools: Nikith Gamage (Under 7-boys), Savindhi Jayaratne (Under 11-Girls), Anuththara Chandrasiri (Under 11-Girls), Pasan Kavikeshwaran (Under 13-Boys), Lumbini Amabanwala (Under 13- Girls).

Indian competitors also won five gold medals, while Iran won one.

Indian Gold Medal winners: Buncy Prathima (Under 7-Girls), Shake Nubairasans (Under 9-Boys), Ivana Furtado (Under 9-Girls), Ajmeer Athisar (Under 15-Boys), S. Kruthika (Under 15-Girls).

Iran Gold Medal winner: Saley Mirzai (Under 11-Boys).
