Business opportunities in the EU
A high level Seminar covering "Business Opportunities in the Emerging
Economies in the EU" has been organised for the first time by the Sri
Lanka-Poland Business Council and Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, to create
greater awareness of the growing potential, to develop trade and
investment between Sri Lanka and the emerging economies in the EU will
be held on Tuesday, April 22, from 9.00 a.m. - 1.30 p.m. at Hotel Trans
Asia.
The seminar will cover three potential emerging economies in the EU,
namely, Poland, Romania and Hungary. The Chief Guest Julian Wilson, Head
of Delegation/Ambassador, Delegation of the European Commission to Sri
Lanka and the Maldives, will focus on trade with the EU, in particular
the EU GSP Plus scheme. Ken Balendra, Honorary Consul General, Consulate
General of the Republic of Poland will be Guest of Honour. Dariusz
Karwowski, Commercial Counsellor-Embassy of the Republic of Poland in
New Delhi, will speak on "Doing Business with Poland" and Navarathnaraja,
former Ambassador to Poland will also speak. Ionel Gombos, Economic
Counsellor/Charge d' Affairs, Embassy of Romania, will discuss "Business
Opportunities in Romania".
Rohan Nanayakkara, Honorary Consul for Hungary will address the
participants on the "Business Opportunities in Hungary". Senior
officials from the Tea Board Ranjith Abeykoone, Acting Director, Ms.
Sonali Wijeratne, Director, Department of Commerce and Ms. Ranjani
Tudugala, Director Marketing of EDB will also address the seminar. A
panel discussion and question and answer session will follow.. |
