Three chess clinics for Defence Services

CHESS: Suneetha Wijesuriya - President of the Anatoly Karpov chess club and chairperson of Sri Lanka Chess Foundation of Sri Lanka conducted three very successful chess coaching clinics at the Defence Services College at Malay Street, Colombo from Tuesday to Thursday last week.

There were 160 of year 2 students of Defence Services College who followed the classes with their parents.

Major General Siri Ranaweera praised the efforts of Suneetha Wijesuriya to spread the game of chess to the length and breadth of this country and said that she was one person who used all her experience gained in her long association with the game to help others in chess.

Suneetha has won the National Chess Championship for ten years and was also a Gold Medal winner at the 30th World Chess Olympiad in 1992.
