City and Guilds holds graduation ceremony

The annual graduation of the City and Guilds institute was held recently at the BMICH. Amanda Kellar, the representative for the City and Guilds in UK inaugurated the ceremony.

Mufthi Hashim, the Country Manager of City and Guilds Sri Lanka said, "The City and Guilds qualification offers a comprehensive certification that is on par with international standards and is recognised around the world."

He said that it was introduced because a vocational and job training certification was required to increase the skills of people in a particular stream.

He said, "In fact in today's modern age, our youth have plenty of opportunities to increase their skills because in this competitive industry people look for multi-skilled workers".

In Sri Lanka, Skills International is the authorised partner of City and Guilds of UK in helping any student in any age category with the career advancement and high standing. In the training sphere, Skills International is actively engaged in conducting several skills advancement programs in Sri Lanka.

City and Guilds, a Royal Chartered Institute of the United Kingdom set up in 1878 accounts for over 50% of all National Vocational Qualifications offered in UK .

City and Guilds programs are offered through 8,000 approved centres worldwide and has a global presence in over 100 countries.

City and Guilds issues over one million certifications annually in over 800 subjects. Being an ISO 9000 certified institution, City and Guilds ensures quality assurance through a stringent process of monitoring the delivery of programs and assessments at their approved centres.

Graduates from the Engineering division of the City and Guilds were awarded certificates.

They cover Technician and Craft Level Programs through the Government Technical Education Network under the auspices of the Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Education.
