The ‘Pat- a- Cake’ nursery rhyme proves how much we have been passionate about cakes from the time we were young. Having been fascinated with wonderful shapes and sculptures that have been synonymous with cakes, the art of cake design is prevalent at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel after they unveiled their 101 cakes recently.

Tharika Goonesekera, the Public Relations Manager of Cinnamon Grand Hotels highlighted: “For the first time in Sri Lanka, we introduced the service of offering our customers with the choice of 101 different types of hobby cakes that can cater to kids or the ‘kid in you’.

She stated that 6 months of research went into effectively harnessing the best skills of the Cinnamon Grand Hotel’s cake and pastry department’s to give clients not just an ordinary cake but a work of art.

“We believe in giving our customers affordable indulgence because baking a cake is difficult to make time for, with our hectic lives”. Executive Pastry Chef W. D. M. L. Niranjan explained the actual work of art. “We have a good team of five working at the Pastry Department who are skilful and creative in making the designs, the more intricate art work is done by me”.

Further he mentioned “We use special non-toxic colours that are used to give the dazzling colours to the cakes and the marzipan designs we use are edible whilst parchment creations are more for the display”.

They offer their clients the 101 cake designs by means of an album where they can select their favourite cake creation. Chef Niranjan stated “We can even make special tailor-made cakes according to the customer’s requirements but only after talking to them and making them understand what is possible to create out of a cake”.

A range of brilliant choice cakes from chocolate to ribbon cakes can be fashioned into gorgeous and delicious designs that will tickle your fancy. A scrumptious array of cakes in fine detail will make you feel like you are in heaven.

The Cinnamon Grand has been awarded by the Health Ministry as one of the cleanest hotels in Sri Lanka, the assurance of safety is guaranteed.
