CH confront Police today

RUGBY: The Sri Lanka Police which went down fighting by 11-29 to the mighty Kandy Sports Club last week will take on CH and FC in their Caltex ‘A’ Division League rugby match at Maitland Crescent today. The kick off is scheduled for 4.30 p.m.

CH and FC which scored a smashing 40-5 win over Army last week will be looking for another morale-boosting win which would also enable them to avenge the 11-12 defeat which they suffered at the hands of the policemen in the first round game at Police Park.

The marauding police forwards came up with a sterling display to match upto the Kandy ‘eight’ last week with Nishantha Welagadara, Malith Hettiarachchi, Asala Vithana, Nalin Archarige, Pradeep Wilson and Skipper Nilusha Fernando giving of their best but today they will come up against the power-packed CH forwards Achala Perera, Sathya Ranatunge, Dinesh Sanjeewa, Jayantha Ranaweera, Dilanka Wijesekera and strongly built Sumedha Malewana.

In the set scrums Sri Lanka hooker Achala Perera of CH should get the better of his vis-a-vis Malith Hettiarachchi while in the line outs the Police trio of Wilson, Archarige and Vithane have the edge over CH’s Sanjeewa and Senarath.
