Kandy BoC Veterans sixes champs

CRICKET: Bank of Ceylon Veterans team Kandy emerged champions at the
inaugural six-a-side softball cricket tournament organised by Kandy Bank
of Ceylon Veterans Association. The matches were played at the Police
Grounds, Kandy.
Veterans Bank of Ceylon teams from Kurunegala, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy,
Matale and Anuradhapura participated in the tournament.
In the final, Bank of Ceylon Veterans beat Kurunegagala Veterans by
26 runs.
Kandy BoC Veterans: 60 for 4 wkts in 5 overs (Nihal Abeygunasekera
36, Gemunu Ekanayake 14; R. Gnanaratne 2 for 8, T. Basnayake 1 for 11,
Palitha Munasinghe 1 for 20).
Kurunegala BoC Veterans: 34 for 5 wkts in 5 overs (Tissa Basnayake
12, Palitha Munasinghe 19; Roy Jayasundera 2 for 8.)
Best Batsman: Nihal Abeygunasekera - Kandy, Best Bowler: A. V.
Bandara - Kandy, Best Fielder: Palitha Munasinghe - Kurunegala.
Judo very popular in Gampola

Judo: There was a coaching camp and display of judo held at Jinaraja
College, Gampola recently. Sixty five girls and boys from the following
sports clubs participated: Jinaraja S.C, Anuruddha S.C., Grovehill S.C.,
Jinarajaini S.C., Royen's S.C., Ambagamuwa S.C., Wickremabahu S.C. - all
from Gampola participated.
Judo is very popular in Gampola and each club was presented with judo
costumes by the chief guest Anuruddha Ratwatte - President of the Kandy
Sports Development Foundation.
Old Antonians in quarter-finals

CRICKET: Old Antonians Sports Club, Kandy entered the quarter- finals
of the Division III inter-club cricket tournament organised by Sri Lanka
cricket when they beat Super Talent Sports Club, Kurunegala by six
wickets in the pre quarter final played at Pannala.
Match winners for the Old Antonians were medium pacer Chintake
Girihagama 3 for 24 and off spinner Mohammed Hazari 4 for 20.
Super Talent Sports Club: 109 all out in 23.1 overs (N.S. Yapa 23,
S.C. Kahangala 34, N.B. Ratnayake 21, Chintaka Girihagama 3 for 24,
Mohammed Hazari 4 for 20, S. Liyanage 2 for 18).
Old Antonians Sports Club: 110 for 4 wickets in 24 overs (Indika
Fernando 52, Champika Siriwardena 21)
Matale C.C. beat Old Thomians by an innings

CRICKET: Matale Cricket Club opened their season with an easy
innings and 45 runs win over Old Thomians Sports Club, Matale in their
Sri Lanka Cricket's under 23 cricket tournament match played at Bernard
Aluwihare Stadium, Matale.
Highlight of the match was the medium pace bowling of Madhushan
Anuruddha 5 for 29 and off spin bowling of Vikumnath Jayasuriya 5 for 18
who bowled Matale CC to victory.
MATALE CC: 244 all out in 61 overs (Mohammed Nafais 59, A.
Kangarachchi 22, R. Dissanayake 22, M. Anuruddha 45, L.M. Jayaratne 18,
