Lions District 306A 1 to support Gemi Pubuduwa and Suwa Udana
programs
Lions Club 306A 1 has included in its development plan for 2008/2009
to plant over 100,000 saplings and control dumping of garbage in its
governing areas, Lions District 306A 1 Governor, Dr. Senarath Rekogama
said.
Addressing a ceremony to induct members to the new cabinet held under
the patronage of Plan Implementation Minister P. Dayaratne and President
of the International Lions Club, Mahendra Amarasuriya, Dr. Rekogama said
his organisation would use a tripartite effort to gain better results by
enhancing productivity, and quality of service.
He said the organisation will contribute to improve the
infrastructure of ten rural villages under the Gemi Pupuduwa program.
Lions District 306A 1 has also planned to hold eight health camps
under the Suwa Udana program at provincial level and provide 30,000
pairs of spectacles, conduct 1000 cataract operations and hold several
awareness programs on healthy living.
Among the other programs included in the agenda are; vocational
training on computer, carpentry, masonry, electrical wiring, gem
cutting, food processing, agriculture and motor mechanics, he said. |
