An assortment of products from the SAARC countries will be displayed
at the forthcoming SAARC Trade Fair to be held from August 28-31 at the
BMICH.
A spokesman for the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry
in Sri Lanka (FCCISL) said they expect around 150,000 -200,000 visitors
including entrepreneurs, buyers, producers and State officials from the
SAARC region.
There will be around 613 stalls at the trade fair. Of the 613 trade
stalls, 182 have been allocated for foreign companies.
“This will be the second occasion where Sri Lanka will hold the SAARC
Trade Fair. The first fair was held in 1998,” the spokesman said.
The Trade Fair will exhibit products such as pharmaceutical,
machinery, agricultural implements, chemicals, herbal products, leather
products, rubber based products, computers, furniture, gems and
jewellery products and apparels.
The Department of Commerce, Export Development Board, Board of
Investment, Sri Lanka Customs, Sri Lanka Tourist Board, Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Export Promotions will organise the
event.
The theme of this year’s fair will be regional opportunities for
global growth and harnessing strengths within the SAARC region to expand
trade ties with other countries. |
