SLT launches Megaline

The main challenge in the telecommunication sector is to provide consumers more choices, increase flexibility and greater control.

Telecommunication service providers need to introduce new products that deliver speed with superior quality and reliability, said Chairperson, Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), Leisha de Silva Chandrasena.

She was addressing a ceremony at the Colombo Hilton to launch SLT Megaline, a wireline connection that offers customers the freedom to choose a range of services. ?Our aim is to make wireline services affordable to customers and provide unmatched quality through the range of products.

The new products will give SLT?s traditional telecommunication services a new dimension?, she said.

SLT Megaline comprises four products which offers voice, data, broadband, email and multimedia services on a single wireline connection. Customers can choose bronze, silver, gold or platinum services.

The company is in the process of launching Next Generation Networks (NGN) using optical fibre backbone and broadband services such as IMS and IPTV to make Sri Lanka a broadband island.

SLT provides high speed global connectivity to countries in the South Asian region through its investments in international submarine cables.

SLT is the leading telecommunication service provider in the country with an annual turnover exceeding Rs. 40 billion and a customer base of over two million. The company was awarded an AAA (Sri) rating by Fitch Ratings Lanka followed by a BB-international rating by Fitch International and Standard and Poor?s.
