Moratuwa Municipality to crack the whip!

The Moratuwa Municipal Council has decided to demolish all unauthorized buildings, huts and temporary walls in the Council area by Oct. 10, the Mayor said. This program will be implemented in the Moratuwa area to give a facelift, in response to requests made by residents.

The council has already identified about 280 such unauthorized structures built close to roads, on top of sewers and along the canals.

In fact, the government has selected Moratuwa Municipal Council area as the venue to celebrate the World Habitat Day and thus will be provided with Rs. 7.5 million for the provision of community services, like library and sports facilities for the Soyazapura Housing Scheme and the surrounding areas.
