LTTE responsible for humanitarian crisis in Wanni - EROS Chief

Expat Tamils furious over Tigers’ arrogance:

The Eelam Revolutionary Organisation of Students (EROS) leader Rajanathan Prabhakaran charged that the LTTE was responsible for the current humanitarian crisis that has emerged due to the displacement of civilians in Kilinochchi and Wanni at large.

The EROS leader who is currently based in Switzerland and now in Colombo to look into his party matters told the Sunday Observer that the LTTE has devastated the lives of thousands of innocent civilians in the Wanni by carrying out a losing battle with the Security Forces.

“The expatriate Tamils unlike in the past are furious over the outfit’s adamant attitude of continuing with the war and not engaging in talks or safeguarding the innocent civilians. The support that the LTTE enjoyed in foreign countries has now dried up drastically with ninety per cent of the expatriate Tamils expressing dismay over the LTTE’s arrogance in ignoring the peace initiatives.

A few weeks ago I travelled to several European cities and found that the efforts by LTTE to stage demonstrations with regard to the current situation in the Wanni had fizzled out. As in the past, there were no people in large numbers gathering for rallies organised by the LTTE. These rallies are no more in Europe or elsewhere in the globe where the expatriate Tamils live,” Rajanathan Prabhakaran said.

He also added that the LTTE was treating the Northern Tamils in the past two decades like Nomads. The innocent civilians living peacefully in their own homes have been made to live like stray animals.

“A similar situation existed in the east when the LTTE was in control of the area. However, since the outfit had been defeated and the Provincial Council administration has been established in the East, people in the region are breathing peacefully without any disturbances from the LTTE.

Therefore, I wish that the current Wanni operation should end the menace once and for all and peace should be established to see the northerners too liberated from the deadly grip of the LTTE,” said Rajanathan Prabhakaran, a one time EROS militant commander in the East.
