Colombo and India port spikers register victories

SAPOG: The spikers from Colombo Port and India Port registered
wins over Maldives Port and Sri Lanka Airport respectively in the
Volleyball tournament of the 1st SAPOG played at the Sugathadasa Indoor
Stadium yesterday.
In the opening match Colombo Port scored a smashing straight 3 - 0
win over the Maldives Port team 25-21, 25-13 and 25-21. Meanwhile Indian
Port Volley ballers defeated Sri Lanka Airport by three sets to one
25-20, 25-15, 18-25 and 28-26. Six teams are playing in the tournament
in two groups on a league basics.
Beach Volleyball
Four matches were worked off in the Beach Volleyball Tournament at
Beach Park, Kudapaduwa, Negombo and Colombo Port, Pakistan Port and
India Port were in the lead in the league round games.
Hockey

20-Twenty cricket
India Port I, Sri Lanka Airport and India Port II won their
respective matches worked off at Colts, Bloomfield and Moos grounds.
Today the games will continue with hockey to be played at
Bambalapitiya table tennis and Badminton matches at S. Thomas College
Indoor stadium, Mount Lavinia, Cricket at BRC, Colts, Moors and
Bloomfield ground, carrom at CFSL head quarters at Reid Avenue,
Volleyball at Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, beach Volleyball in Negombo,
tennis at Trans Asia Hotel’s tennis court, soccer at Vincent Dias
stadium, Badulla, biliard at BSA headquarters, Reid Avenue. Netball
matches of the SAPOG will be worked off tomorrow, 6th October at
Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. The awards ceremony will be held on October
8 at the Temple Trees. |
