Carbon sequestration to combat global warming
A training seminar on "Carbon sequestration to combat global warming"
will be conducted by the Institute of Chemistry on November 21 at Hotel
Janaki. The course is intended to provide basic knowledge of modern
concepts, techniques and practices involved in Clean Development
Mechanism, (CDM) Carbon sequestration and C-trading to industrialists,
managers and researchers working in these areas and also for those who
intend to venture into these fields.
The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is an arrangement under the
Kyoto Protocol allowing industrialised countries to invest in projects
that reduce emissions in developing countries. Carbon sequestration
technologies capture and store carbon-dioxide that would otherwise
reside in the atmosphere for long periods of time.
Expert resource persons will deal with Clean Development Mechanism,
its commercial aspects, carbon, sequestration, carbon trading and carbon
sequestration strategies to mitigate climate change, carbon negative
product concept, contribution of rubber plantations in eliminating green
house effect and methodological approaches to assess carbon in rubber
plantations.
