Sangaree pleased with outcome

The Tamil United Liberation Front Leader V. Anandasangaree: “I am very glad to know about the liberation of Pooneryn. I congratulate the Security Forces, who did a courageous job. The people of Pooneryn are very innocent and their main livelihood was cultivation. They were also engaged in fishing. But due to LTTE atrocities the civilians of Pooneryn had to suffer a lot for the past three decades.

Before entering politics I was a teacher at Pooneryn Maha Vidyalayam. Therefore, I am very familiar with the area and the people. Later when I represented Kilinochchi in Parliament for thirteen years, I had very close ties with Pooneryn as the area was in my electorate.

“So, I am extremely happy to hear about the liberation and I am certain the Security Forces will continue with their efforts to liberate Kilinochchi to bring about an overall liberation to the people in this country from LTTE terrorism.”
