Dialog tie-up will make SSC grounds a thing of beauty
CRICKET: The Singhalese Sports Club grounds at Maitland Place
will get a facelift and it will be brought in line to the standard of
Newslands cricket grounds in Cape Town, South Africa or even to some of
the scenic grounds in the West Indies and India.
With the idea of doing up the ground, the SSC signed up a three-year
sponsorship deal with Dialog Telecom. These details were disclosed at
the press conference held in this regard at the SSC pavilion on Thursday
evening.
Michael de Zoysa - Chairman Cricket House Committee of the SSC, said
that his club was confident that during the course of the new
sponsorship agreement, the SSC grounds will get a complete facelift so
that it will be one of the most sought-after cricket venues in the
Indian Sub-Continent before the start of the next edition of the ICC
World Cup in 2011.
De Zoysa stated that his club was confident that during the course of
the new sponsorship agreement extended to the SSC Division One cricket
team, would mark as it will be the first time Dialog has teamed up with
a domestic cricket club and expressed his optimism that it will be a
shot in the arm for both partners Nushad Perera, Group Chief Marketing
Officer of Dialog Telecom, speaking to reporters said, this team-up
between Dialog and SSC will be a dynamic partnership between a
successful brand and an equally successful team.
"The opportunities thereon are endless, and the two partners will
have a lot to show both on and off the pitch.
At Dialog, our pursuit is to be the power behind Sri Lanka sport, and
therefore we take great pride in being the sponsor of the SSC team."
President of the SSC Tommy Ellawala also spoke.
