Epic knock of 239 by Angelo
CRICKET: Sri Lanka youth cap Angelo Perera hammered a trail blazing
239 as St. Peter's College took major honours in their inter school
cricket tournament match against Nalanda College which ended in a draw
at Bambalapitiya yesterday.
The number three right hand batsman hoisted five sixes and 24
boundaries while collecting his runs from 206 deliveries as the
Peterites amassed a mammoth 501 runs in their first innings in reply to
Nalanda's total of 295.This is the first time that Angelo Perera has
rossed the two hundred run mark in first eleven cricket having made back
to back double centuries in the under 14 tournament. This is also the
first double century for St. Peter's College since Clive Inman's knock
of 204 not out against the traditional rivals St. Joseph's College way
back in 1954.
