PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Nov 14, 2008 (AFP)
Two journalists, one from Japan and one from Afghanistan, were
injured in a shooting Friday in the northwestern Pakistan city of
Peshawar, police said.
Japan’s Asahi Shimbun newspaper said its correspondent and his
colleague, who worked as a stringer for the daily, were shot on their
way to report on the Taliban movement.
Gunmen fired at the journalists in the Hayatabad area of the city,
which borders the lawless Khyber tribal district, senior police official
Abdul Qadir told AFP.
“A Japanese and an Afghan journalist were injured after unknown
gunmen fired at them and fled after the shooting,” Qadir said.
