Karuna appeals int'l community to stop funding LTTE

Former LTTE military Commander Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman has appealed to the international community and the Tamil diaspora to stop assisting and funding the LTTE which still refuses to lay down arms and dragging the war to sacrifice the lives of more Tamils. Commenting on LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran's so called Heroes Day speech, Muralitharan said that it was more of a plea to the international community to save the outfit.

The Indian politicians who were now experiencing the gravity of terrorism should not allow the LTTE to raise its head."His Mahaweeran speech clearly shows the LTTE's weakeness. In previous speeches he made predictions, but this time he pleaded with the international community to lend him a helping hand", said Muralitharan, MP and Leader of the TMVP.

He said that he was confident that India, where terrorism had been unleashed would not pay any attention to Prabhakaran," he ordered the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and how can the Indians help the LTTE, which is still refusing to lay down arms", he said.

Muralitharan said that the defeat of the LTTE was imminent as the military was in its final push to capture Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu from several fronts, and the outfit would fail to keep the civilians by force in future.

He said that the fall of Kilinochchi, the largest city which houses many of their headquarters including the main office of Prabhakaran would be a big blow for the LTTE. Capturing Kilinochchi will make the re-opening of the A-9 Road far easier.

There are over 200,000 civilians in LTTE custody and they have now started fleeing", Muralitharan said adding that the LTTE which had forced one member from each family to join the outfit had now intensified the recruitment drive by abducting more family members.

Muralitharan who participated in peace talks between the government and the LTTE blamed Prabhakaran for `spoiling' the opportunity to resolve the national problem through a federal solution.

"At a time, 600 Tamils had sacrificed their lives, he had refused to solve the issue. Now over 22,390 Tamils have sacrificed their lives for his day dream. But he still wants to stick to his dream and how many more innocent Tamils should sacrifice for this unworthy cause", he asked. Muralitharan said that soldiers entering Mullaitivu from the Weli-Oya front would decide on the future of the LTTE leader now hiding in an underground bunker in Mullaitivu. "It is only 14 kms from Kumalamunei to Mullaitivu. Even if he hides in the jungles, he cannot save himself as well trained Commandos will 'hunt' him", he said.

According to Muralitharan, it is time for the LTTE leader to surrender without sacrificing the lives of thousands of Tamils.
