Rain washes out play on the second day

The prevalent torrential rains put paid to any chance of Army SC from resuming at their overnight first-innings score of 24 for no loss as umpires called off day two of their Tier A Premier League match against CCC sans a ball being bowled at Maitland Crescent last evening.

Earlier CCC batting first were bowled out for 252 with middle-order batsman Bathiya Perera stroking 139 studded with 12 fours and two sixes.

The match is scheduled to resume on its third day (Sunday) at 10.00 a.m. weather permitting. (JK).

The same fate suffered by CCC and Army SC at Maitland Crescent was experienced by Tamil Union and NCC at the Colombo Oval, as inclement weather prevented a ball being delivered on day two of their Premier League Tier 'A' match here last evening.

Tamil Union batting first were 248 for 8 by stumps on day one, with former Sri Lanka wicket-keeper bat Lanka de Silva top-scoring with 51.
