Air Force strafes Kilinochchi LTTE targets

In support of the advancing ground troops the Sri Lanka Air Force
carried out nine attacks throughout the day starting from early hours
yesterday.
“The attacks were carried out targeting LTTE positions in South,
South West and West of Kilinochchi as well as towards Paranthan
neutralizing LTTE defences,” Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka
Nanayakkara said. According to Wing Commander Nanayakkakra the series of
attacks carried out by MIG 27, F7 and kfir fighter jets were in support
of the advancing troops of the Task Force 1 and the 57 Division.
Troops operating on the Wanni front are speedily approaching
perimeters of the two Tiger strongholds, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu
amidst stiff resistance from the LTTE. Troops are in the offensive
against LTTE in Adampan, Akkarayankulam, Iranamadu and Mankulam North
areas in Kilinochchi.
