Schols for higher studies

Chevening Alumni Network in Sri Lanka and Maldives was launched recently. The British High Commission in collaboration with the British Council has been awarding scholarships since 1984.

Chevening scholarships are offered to strengthen the ties between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.

Chevening scholarships are awarded to help students to pursue higher studies. At present they have 394 members in the alumni network. "Lalith Athulathmudali, G.L. Peiris and many other personnel in both government and other sectors were Chevening scholars. Every month as Chevening Alumni network, we conduct series of lectures," Ranjith Gurugamage, the Secretary of British Scholars Association told the Sunday Observer.
