Lanka wins award for best design in Shanghai
The Sri Lanka Centre in Shanghai won the award for the best design
from among 2,200 stores/centres at the Shanghai Mart. The Sri Lanka
Centre was selected by an online vote by the public.
The Centre was designed by Anuja Madushanka, a Sri Lankan who
graduated from the prestigious Beijing Film Academy where well-known
graduates include Chinese Film Director Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige and our
Honorary Tourism Ambassador Xu Jinglei.
The Sri Lanka Centre was set up in September.
The "Sri Lanka Centre" was established to "Showcase Sri Lankan
products" under one roof to market them in Eastern China and attract
investments into Sri Lanka. The Centre will promote Sri Lankan niche
products and also provide services such as business to business (B2B)
meetings, explore marketing opportunities, secure orders for Sri Lankan
exporters and attract Chinese investment through matching with local
partners.
Shanghai Mart, one of China's largest international Trade Marts
contains 2,200 permanent showrooms on more than 200,000 square metres.
A number of qualified suppliers from three key industries such as
Apparel, Fabrics and Home Textiles; Giftware and Home Decor and Building
Materials made it an ideal venue to display products and conduct
business. |
