Deep sea fishing developed under BOI agreement

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) granted investment approval to Deshan International Imports and Exports to set up a project to undertake deep sea fishing and allied products for export. Chairman / Director General Dhammika Perera, signed the agreement on behalf of the BOI and presented the BOI Certificate of Registrations to the investor.

Perera said that the BOI encourages more local investors to invest in the local fishing industry. The fishing venture with an initial investment of Rs. 20 million will collect, process and export fish.

The project carried out in Trincomale will initially collect fish from local fishermen. The company will expand operations by purchasing fishing boats.

The company will commence operations immediately and will export their products to markets in Japan, Germany, France, Netherlands and Italy. The investor said that there is a big demand for fish and processed fish product exports.

The Directors of the Company Nuwan Fernando and Ms. Nayomi Fernando signed the agreement on behalf of Deshan International Imports and Exports (Pvt) Ltd.
