Dilan steals the limelight in drawn game

Trinity College, Kandy set an unrealistic victory target of 134 runs to win off two overs ended their second innings at 7 for no loss as their under-19 inter-school match against Wesley College, Colombo fizzled into a tame draw at Campbell Park last evening.

Trinity middle-order batsman Dilan Gangoda was the star on day two yesterday as he hit a superb 110 to help his team make a decent first innings total of 256 all out in reply to Wesley’s first innings total of 179.

Gangoda received able support from R. Jaleel (26) and A. Jayasundera (25) as the lads from the hill capital gained a first innings lead of 77 runs.

Wesley batting a second time were bowled out for 211 with Jasen Cadermanpulle top scoring with 54.

For Trinity R. Jaleel returned impressive figures of 5 for 64.

Trinity (130-5 wkts cont.) 256 all out (Dilan Gangoda 110, R. Jaleel 26, A. Jayasundera 25, Ashen Fonseka 3-6, Dulanjana Wijesinghe 3-83, Tryan Hamer 2 for 26 and 7 for no loss at close.

Wesley 179 and 211 all out (Jason Cadermanpulle 54, Pason Samarasekera 35, Dulanjana Wijesinghe 32, R. Jaleel 5-64, A. Jayasundera 5-77).
